Day 7 of the Writing Your Life challenge
“Choose the location of one long-shot, dream trip and write about it.”
I’m not at all a wanderlust kind of person. Also, I have difficulty in writing about the future, especially now that we don’t even know when Matt will be back to work. That makes it a little hard thinking about sun bathing or laying down in a hammock in Hawaii — trying not to swing that pretty hammock because it gives me vertigo. Friends, I’m getting old.
I’m not a camper, outdoors, motorhome, adventure fan either. I’m boring like a lazy river at the Sheraton. My logic is simple: If I need to leave my house I want to be at least as comfortable as I am at home. That’s it. No dream of going to Europe again — been there, done that. Also no dream of going to the Grand Canyon — that’s Mel’s dream. She will have lots of fun there one day with her dad. No dream of exploring Asia either. I’ve been four times in Japan and the long flights are excruciating. Unless, of course, I can fly Business Class but we all know that that’s just not my reality anymore.
There is one place I’d like to make a long, extended visit though. Are you ready? I’m about to share my wildest, insane dream. Okay, here we go: I’d love to immerse myself in Cambridge, MA. Live in a college condo, studying and researching all day for four years, working on a full-time, old school, in person classes, PhD degree from Harvard.
End of the challenge. This was fun and indeed challenging.
Thank you for reading.
Side note on sharing this on social media:
Instagram and Facebook both love my body but hate my story. Can someone rap about it? I’m not in search of likes, but it’s interesting to see that posting a screenshot of my story gets 5 likes while a photo of myself braless in denim shorts gets 100 likes.
Loves my body. Hates my story. Good thing I’ve never been shy.
